21 PRISON CELL SEARCHES

Going back to jail and clear of court cases I was asked if I wanted to transfer to Hmp Peterbourgh, i grabbed the chance to get out of the dump I had spent the last year in, getting to Peterbourgh I settled in quick as it was a great jail, as jails go. One morning not long after being there my cell was raided, the officers went straight over to my remote control and took it without searching the rest of the cell. I had been grassed up again, this time it was my “pal”. my remote was where I hid the mobile phone I had had for the whole year in Highdown, it had managed to get through 5 security spins and 16 wing officer searches undetected! On 2 occasions I was actually speaking on the phone at the time of the raids (spins) as I kept the phone inside the remote and spoke through the gaps in the rubber buttons I didn’t have to take the phone out much, only to charge it. I had it on my wall held there with Velcro, with the cell lights down low I could see when a call was coming in as it lit up the buttons, I would use the * to answer and the # to end, then * pressed twice would redial the last number. It was a great hiding place that foiled the best security Highdown officers had, one morning at 7am I was talking on the phone whilst sat on the toilet, the door busted open, it was the dedicated search team, they had Intel I had a phone, it was my “pal” but at this time my “pal” didn’t know where the phone was hidden, I told no one! Only telling him when I got the transfer to Peterbourgh, which was a big mistake. So I’m on the toilet talking away and the door comes crashing in! “Don’t move”! the officers shouted. I put the remote on the side and pulled up my shorts. Noticing that the call hadn’t been ended and the person I was speaking to was still talking quite loudly, I picked up the remote and made out I was using it to turn the TV off whilst pointing it at TV pushing the # button and

holding it down to switch the phone off. I didn’t want the phone to give out a signal whilst they was in the cell as it would have interfered with their radios and they may have found it. I placed the remote on top of the TV, going to the holding room to wait was a nervous time, and I wondered if they would find it. Coming back to get me 45 mins later they didn’t say a word as they lead me back the cell. This is a tactic they do to keep you anxious. With just a few extra towels seized the door slammed shut behind me and the remote remained on top of the TV! What a relief and sense of victory I had. However Having such reliable Intel source they came back the next day for anther search. This time I was laid on the bed talking to the remote again! Crash the door swung open they all came running in excited as they had heard me talking. I placed the remote on the bed ending the call and switching it off as before. Leaving it on the bed I was taken to holding room again, and 30mins later taken back to the cell. This time they had moved the remote from the bed placing it on top of the TV! They had handled it and still not felt the slight difference in weight. This was security raid number 5 and in total I was raided over 21 times in the 12 months I was at highdown. Rule number one: never ever tell anyone you got a phone, the jail is full of grasses, trust no one.

MOVED TO HMP LINCOLN

17 days in the block and waiting the outside adjudicator, I was transferred to Lincoln before the judge heard my case. Lincoln is an old jail and I didn’t like it much. I did 2 months there, during this time I found out my ex Laura was living with a young lad off the council estate. I wasn’t bothered she had another fella as it was over months before, but my kids were my life and it hurt knowing they were being made to live with a dinlo, he was only 16! Having no one to talk to I confided in some woman that worked in the chapel, the killer Roul Moat was news at the time and I mentioned how my situation was similar to his in the sense that his woman had moved in with another man. BIG mistake! These sweet little old woman took it all the wrong way, they prayed with me showing me compassion then ran straight to security and told them I said I was going to shoot my ex! Without knowing what was going on I continued to confide in these woman for the next few weeks until my release.
